Beware Fake Cast Iron Terrier Doorstops

Do yourself a favor and do a lot of research before you spend very much money on a cast iron Terrier or any cast iron doorstop. There are Terrier doorstops being sold right now on okay that look like genuine Hubley originals. They have partially covered flat slotted head screws, appropriate paint chips, wear on the feet with the proper color metal showing, etc. But when youdo somechecking the same sellers have been lucky enough to sell many of these identical dogs with prices ranging from 60 dollars to over 200 for the identical dogs. One of the sellers is smart enough to only sell one at a time but he is making a fortune on them.
Before you buy, check the sellers past auctions through an advanced search of that sellers closed auctions or click on the sellers feedback and check his closed auctions that way to see if he is selling the same item on a regular basis. Check the sellers other items to see if their are more listed. Go through different searches to see if you can find an identical item listed. Chances are if their are more than one or maybe two of the same item listed it is a reproduction. If the items look identical with the same paint chips and wear areas then you can be sure it is a fake. It is sad that people are being ripped off because they want to find a bargain but the genuine item seldom sells cheap and unfortunately fakes are now selling for very high prices. Buyer beware.
