I am a long time personal shopper, and have noticed that most women want to experiment with the current trends ,but may be at a loss as to how to make them work for their own personal body type.
One of the major trends of today are the low rise pants, and jeans. This pant will look good on almost any body type, including petites and plus sized figures. The quickest way to date your clothing is to wear the straight legged jeans. These only look good on a small percentage of body shapes, and you must be model thin to pull them off. A better style is a lower rise pant. I am not talking about the ones that don't cover your rear, i am talking about a jean that has a nice balance of a wider leg, and lower rise. If you have a stockier build, and afuller rear end, the wider leg will balance the hip. The peg leg jean is a no-no for all body shapes. If you have no rear end, the low rise will creat the illusion of hips, and give you a nice curvy look.Another nice thing for flat rearends is a nice sized rear pocket. I love the St. John Sport jeans, and pants.
Another popular trend is the tank top. Every body shape can wear this as well. You just have to adjust it to your own body type. The v neck usually looks good on everyone. You can draw attention away from a wider lower body with a v neck top. A smaller busted woman will be able to enhance the bust line with a v necked spaghetti strap tank, and a fuller busted woman can use a halter style, or sweetheart neckline todistract from the bust line with a tank. The important thing with this trend is to buy the tank, or shell with a nice enhancing waist. If you have some weight to hide, get one that narrows at the waist, but doesn't hug the waist. Also have it end below the waistline. This will elongate the body, and balance the look.
Another popular trend is shrugs. You can find shrugs that are short, or long sleeved. They are available in any fabric, and color. These will work perfectly over the above mentioned tank tops or sleeveless tops. They will also help on chilly evenings or in air conditioning. If you have bad upper arms, the shrug is the perfect way to incorporate a new look, also depending on your bust line, you can use them to minimize the bust, or you can buy one that knots under the bust, thereby enhancing the bustline.
Finally, the new trend of longer shorts can work for most body shapes. If you gave up wearing shorts, because you don't like the way your legs look, it is time to pull out your BERMUDA shorts again. You can buy a shorter bermuda short for the shorter leg, or a longer bermuda for a longer leg. Almost anything goes for short lengths these days! If you have a shorter leg, but want to wear the bermuda short, then just gebine it with a wedge heeled sandal. If you have a flatter rear end, buy your bermuda shorts with a lower rise. If you have a little to much junk in your trunk, wear the shorts with a longer shirt, or buy them with a little wider leg. Ralph Lauren Golf has a really nice selection of golf shorts, as well as E. P. Pro,Sport Haley, andTegna.
